Understanding Chiropractic Care
Chiropractors specialise in diagnosing and treating mechanical issues affecting the joints, muscles, and soft tissues, with a particular focus on the spine and its impact on the nervous system. With five years of extensive training, chiropractors possess highly developed diagnostic skills. As expert clinicians, they can determine if chiropractic treatment is suitable for your condition or if you would benefit from other forms of treatment or further investigation.
How Do Chiropractors Treat?
As chiropractors dedicated to continuously improving our techniques and patient care, we offer a range of treatment methods tailored to each individual. Every treatment is personalized to help you recover as quickly as possible. Chiropractic manipulation, also known as an adjustment, is a highly skilled technique used to gently unlock stiff joints. In addition to adjustments, we often incorporate soft tissue therapy to relax tight muscles and accelerate healing in tendons and ligaments. This may include massage, dry needling, Instrument assisted soft tissue techniques, trigger point therapy, or other soft tissue treatments.
We also provide tailored advice on exercises, posture, seating, and work habits to support your recovery and reduce the risk of future issues.
How Effective is Chiropractic?
There is now a substantial body of research demonstrating the effectiveness of chiropractic care for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. Official guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), as well as the Royal College of General Practitioners, recommend early referral for manipulative therapies like chiropractic as the most effective approach for both acute and chronic back pain.
Research by the British Medical Research Council, published in the British Medical Journal in 1990 and 1995, showed that patients with back pain who received chiropractic treatment experienced significantly greater improvement compared to those who received standard hospital outpatient care.
